ensured the safety of our food,
used actual science and research and expertise to evaluate drugs’ effectiveness and safety and ensure their side effects were known,
watched over kids’ health and forced Big Tobacco to stop pitching to kids
is dead, bankrupted by special interests and the victim of internal infighting in the Trump Administration.
One of the conspiracy theorists responsible for the FDA’s demise is now gone but the damage he did will long be felt by families and children.
Yesterday FDA Commissioner Marty Makary was forced out by RFK Jr and Trump himself.
Makary’s tenure has been a total clustermess; in his 13 months:
no less than 4 people have “led” the FDA’s top drug regulation agency,
he authorized fruit-flavored vapes despite vehement objections from medical experts and child advocates,
he’d gone against pediatricians and public health experts to restrict COVID vaccine availability,
the FDA flat-out lied when it asserted 10 children had been killed by the COVID vaccine;
the FDA fired 3,500 clinical experts, epidemiologists, scientists, and administrators with vast knowledge of drug development and testing, leading to continued delays in drug approval.
Yup, you read that right, Trump forced Makary to approve the vaping industry’s ability to sell mango, blueberry, candy and dessert-flavored vapes.
